I have a CEL showing for the ICV but will that affect the rpm's climbing?Any suggestions are appreciated, but heres my idea for now. Change spark plugs, they are 6-8 months old bosch plat 4 I have cleaned the intake out and re oiled it. What else cheap can I do??? __________________ | | | 02-10-2006, 03:57 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Asheville NC Posts: 669 | I wouldn't change the plugs again if they are only a few months old. If you suspect they are bad, pull them and inspect. Mine was bad and when i touched the gas pedal in park or in drive the rpm's dropped almost sounded like it was going to stall. But i never had any problems once up to speed, just from a stand still. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 02-10-2006, 04:44 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: Tennessee Posts: 523 | Doesn't sound like the same problem but I'll put it on my list for my mechanic to run through if I dont fix it cleaning the ICV thanks. __________________ | | | 02-10-2006, 04:55 AM | #11 | Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: Seattle area Posts: 61 | I also had a problem with the camshaft position sensor in mine... It would be fine then it was like i just lost power and then it would be fine then it would keep repeating that... About the position of the ICV i was just talking to one of the BMW techs at work today about mine and asked if M42 and M44 are in the same place under the manifold and he said could not remember but thought they were in the same spot or close | | | 02-10-2006, 05:02 AM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: Tennessee Posts: 523 | The camshaft would throw a CEL if it was bad right?, thanks I hope I don't screw up my engine some how trying to clean the ICV. __________________ | | | 02-10-2006, 05:07 AM | #13 | Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: Seattle area Posts: 61 | Any sensor in the car will throw a code or should throw a code...
