Smile Parking your Ti.

Just a curiosity... How does everyone park their Ti?

I never used to put it in gear but lately the parking brake has been slipping.
So now I do both.

It's also called an Emergency Brake, you know...

But I always put my car in gear, either first or reverse with the handbrake because I don't trust it, as I need replacement.

One of my dumber moments...

I live on a main street, but there is a sidestreet we sometimes park on that is a hill going up. My dad used to move my car there for whatever reason, and since he drives manual, he'd park it with the Emergency Brake up.

Now, I get into my car one day put it in drive and drive to school, all the way to school in fact. I call my dad to say something feels wierd about my car, he says he'll check later. When I parked my car at school, there it was Emergency Brake still up. Felt like an idiot...

However, how can u possibly drive 10miles with an emergency brake on? I'm convinced mine was somehow broken.

On hills I always turn my wheel towards or away from the curb, depending on the direction.

i used to always back into a parking spot anytime...i still do sometimes (still got the hot skillz), but sometimes if im in a hurry or something ill just pull in normally or if im just lazy...

now that i think about it...i think i will bring back the backing in skillz and back in more often

Finding a parking space around here is a nightmare & when you do,the only way you can get the car in is to reverse park.

I was visiting Paris a couple of years back for work & was being driven around by one of the locals. He's driving a nice newish Saab & parked by nudging the parked cars out of the way with his car until he had a space big enough to park in. I was totally gobsmacked, just couldn't believe what he was doing. He told me that all the Parisians did it, it was the only way they could get a parking space & for this reason everyone left their handbrake off & the car out of gear.

i would flip if somebody did that to my car here in america... but yes i back up a lot so that way i can get it and just pull out and i usually am the first one out at school and work....just makes it earier when leaving. and i used to never pull the ebrake in my 240sx but i read in the bmw manual it says to never park it in gear as a substitute for the Ebrake so now i use the ebrake and then put it in first gear too

I'm with JPerfect, I know that in gear will suffice, but I remember when I was young, my mom's car had rolled into the people's across the streets yard; she thought she put it in gear. And when facing downhill, I put it in reverse.

Otherwise, second and the brake.
