 how to tell oem cat from aftermarket
I have a 318i m44 with new o2 sensors and new bolt on aftermarket cat. still getting cat efficiency code causing me to fail ct emissions. From reading here I need an OEM cat to pass emissions. So my next stop is junkyards looking for an OEM cat. My question is what markings should I be looking for? Does anyone have a photo of one? Looking under my 318ti I can clearly see the BMW emblem on the heatshield but if the heat shield were missing I do not know if its going to be recognizable with BMW emblems . The cat that came on this sedan is marked CAMM 38500 I don't know but it seems like an aftermarket part itself. |
