However, there are some things that I have not been able to clear up. I am hoping to use the factory speakers with my new Alpine head unit, Alpine main amp, MTX 10" sub, and a Kenwood 4 ch amp w/the sub. The vehicle is pre-wired for a cd changer in the trunk, and I am getting mixed reports on whether my car is factory equipped w/ an amp with the factory head. I am also not sure if the car is equipped with crossovers for the component speakers in both front and back. If crossovers are not already installed, I am assuming that I need to install them with the system upgrade. Can anyone explain this to me, as well as explain the best way to install the system that I have outlined? Current Factory Equip.: -Factory AM/FM cassette deck -2ea front kick panel speaker -2ea front door mid speaker -2ea front door tweeter -2ea rear deck tweeter -2ea rear deck mid range | | | 08-24-2009, 11:44 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2008 Location: Greensboro, NC Posts: 234 | well since you have the premium sound system (10 speakers) your car does have an amp but does NOT have crossovers. if you find a good place to hide them, please tell me because mine are still in the closet as for the subs setup, you're probably gonna want it on the right in the back because the battery is passenger side | | | 08-24-2009, 05:52 PM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2009 Location: South Pasadena, CA Posts: 20 | Use existing amp, or new one plus crossovers? Thanks for the help. One more question, though. Do you think that I should use the existing amp for the head, or install my Alpine amp and wire up my 2 pair of crossovers-1pr for the front & 1pr for the rear? | | | 08-24-2009, 06:05 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2008 Location: Greensboro, NC Posts: 234 | im running an alpine ida-x100 head unit, 4 MB quart premiums in the rear(speakers+tweeters) and the front six off it with no problems | | | 08-24-2009, 06:11 PM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2009 Location: South Pasadena, CA Posts: 20 | I'll give it a try and let you know what I think.
