No rust, slight dent in resonator from previous owner (maybe a speed bump or?). Was painted in 2008 before install. Nice deep rumble, not loud. Tip has minor discoloration to it, will try and polish it up before sale. 40k miles, came from Georgia seller. Currently installed, I can let you listen over the phone or take a video if you prefer. I would need a short amount of time to reinstall my stock exhaust before shipping. Supersprints were the only catbacks that actually produced a recorded hp increase (+3) in a test back in 1998 or so. Recognized as closest to stock in terms of noise level, much like a Dinan for less $. No longer made for the Ti I think though I could be wrong. Shipping will be discounted through my company via Fedex Ground. $250 + shipping Pics to come this weekend. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 03-13-2009, 05:36 PM | #2 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | intersted | | | 03-13-2009, 09:59 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | Are you selling your car soon or something? Campaiar lives locally and I was AMAZED how quiet and fast his car is with the S52, stock air box and stock muffler. Plus you got a screamin deal on an already built car- if a deal like that came along I'm easily converted. Either way I'd rather have the cash at this point. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 03-14-2009, 05:56 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | Wow actually that sounds like an awesome combo. Aren't aluminum M52 blocks hard to get (UK only?)? And didn't they have the lining issue with the Niksil? Why not S52 cams? I have some family in Cincinnati so maybe when you start this project I'll drop by and help you. The M50 manifold was a bitch but we just got it done with my dad's M Roadster. In fact I have a slightly damaged M50 manifold here... heh. One of the TB bolts broke in the manifold so we tried to get it out... didn't work quite so well. Will try to fix it so it works though and get rid of it. | | | 03-14-2009, 05:19 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | Wow, help would be great but I have no timeframe as of now. Z3's 2.8's came with aluminum blocks (60 lb lighter than iron block S52's and cheaper), all e46's and e39's have aluminum blocks too. No alusil/nikasil issues as the cylinders are steel lined. I can add the S52 cam and M50 manifold later or right away. I have some other stuff too to sell but thought I'd start with he biggies. 40k on the catback BTW, forgot to mention that. Came from previous owner in Georgia, so again, no rust that I can see. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 03-14-2009, 06:30 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | From the wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_M52 The world market engine used Nikasil lined aluminium cylinders instead of a cast iron cylinder block, resulting in lighter engines. While, the American market engine retained its cast iron block due to the sulfur content of available fuel. I don't know much about the M52; just wanted to show you what I read. | | | 03-14-2009, 10:28 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: SOUTH Jersey Posts: 1,085 | I am interested.. any idea what shipping to 08234 might be? | | | 03-15-2009, 01:31 AM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | Tentatively sold, waiting on PP deposit from Mad Machine. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 03-15-2009, 02:09 AM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: SOUTH Jersey Posts: 1,085 | done.. deposit is waiting for you | | | 03-15-2009, 06:14 AM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | Got it, thanks! __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
