Is this a common failure? Most cars over here have a metal bar which you use to prop up the open bonnnet, but I guess gas struts are cooler. Is it a relatively easy fix, or will the whole bonnet need to come off? Also which service manual do I need? I cant find a haynes manual which covers the compacts? The hood (bonnet) will not need to come off, you will just need something or someone to hold it open when you put in new ones... There isn't a separate manual for our compacts, but this one is the best and will cover 99% of repairs and fixes.
