Default Did I buy the right part?

I noticed this tear in the boot between the airbox and intake and the people at my local dealership said this was the replacement part for it:

However, it doesn't appear to me to be a direct replacement for the part that is ripped. If this is indeed the correct part, how do I install it? My bentley manual is of little use.

Here are two better pics of the part:

You bought the part for cars without ASC+T. Your car has the ASC+T throttle body so you need a different piece for it.

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...18&hg=13&fg=15

That page should show you the difference between the two.

Thanks for the info, looks like I'm heading back to the dealership.

If you would like to sell that intake boot that you did buy I would love to buy it from you. My car doesn't have ASC+T so it would work perfect and I would like a new boot.

This is a good thread for showing the difference between the two (just two?) intake boots on these cars.

3 actually, the boot for the M42 is shorter than the boot for the M44 w/o ASC, learned that the hard way when I ordered a used one, luckily it still fit because I also installed a CAI but it wouldn't fit with the stock airbox
