Default Brake cylinder not going all the way back in?

So I was hoping for a speedy switch out of brake pads and rotors but..I have hit a road block..The cylinder within the caliper will not go all the way back in, OR the pads that I have are way too thick. I have tried opening the resi and also the bleeding valve. Nothing works and I'm kinda dead and stinking till I get them in.. So a quick response would be much appreciated. btw I am using the biggest pair a pliers known to man kind to try and push it back in......

if you have the right brake pads then you might consider buying this tool and trust me it has made my life a lot easier when changing brakes. This particular one is available at harbor freight tools and it sells for like $25.00.

One more thing, have you tried the other side? and did the pad fit in the other side?

I haven't tried the other side.. I hate to admit it but, the pads got down to the metal. And I think they may have been low for a while. But I will try and tear the other side apart too see if thats the same deal... Thanks for the suggestion on the tool, I'll check into it.

A large C-Clamp also works. Pliers are not a good idea, they can chip the goating on the piston or damage the seal.
Good luck
