Exclamation Friggin' IDIOT!!!

I woke up this morning @ 4:15 am to get ready for work. I usually wake up at 3:45 am every morning, but I was visiting family in Phoenix, so it was closer to my work. I left the house at 4:30 am to find that my beloved ti had been broken into. Some IDIOT! shattered the whole driver's side window and they snatched my Alpine deck, Toshiba Gigabeat, my new $130 pair of Oakley's, and a few other things. There is glass shattered everywhere inside. They even were trying to take my amp w/ my speakers in the false trunk box, but they didn't know how to get it open I guess.

Anyways, this sucks @$$ and I'm so pissed. Now I'm waiting for the Cops to show up so I can file a police report. Then, hopefully I can get the damage fixed and go along with my day.

That does suck. Criminals go for aftermarket because it's easy to sell.

I almost wish they would have just stolen the car, that way I can just get a newer one, but now I have to pay all sorts of $$$ to replace some stuff. Even w/ gret insurance, I'm still going to be out some dough.

Also, the cop just came by and ran the police report and took some finger prints. Kinda felt like a CSI episode, kinda. We also found out that the driver's seat is busted and there is more damage to the door than I though. Car won't lock, busted frame, etc. Totally sucks @$$.

That really blows dude. i have close to $5,000 of stereo equipment
and would be PISSED if that happened to me.
Thankfully, i park on base and it hardly ever happens. And my windows
are really dark, so unless you know me, you dont know what i have.

Sorry to hear that TiTime, hope they can give you most of your money back! Is there any way that one can "lock" a deck into the car so that it's close to impossible to pull out?

Kinda, must radios come with a cage that has metal tabs that can be bent in order to "lock" it in place. But even so, if the criminal really wants it, it can be had.

TiTime sorry to hear your day started off like that. Did you have an alarm? I can't believe they took your sunglasses. I would be pissed if someone broke into my car and stole my Ray-ban shades

as Dusten found, when you have visible aftermarket audio, you become a target. it sucks, but it's true. even if you lock it in there nicely, they'll most likely damage it (incidentally or purposely) even if they can't get it out. it truly sucks that you can't have nice stuff ... people suck.

sorry for your loss TiTime, hopefully you'll be whole again soon.

Do what I do.........ALWAYS DOUBLE LOCK YOU CAR!!! That way even if they did break a window, they couldnt open the door, they would have climb to in thru the window and carve themselves up pretty bad. Making it not really worth breaking into.

Doesn't the OEM car alarm have double locking feature? I'm pretty sure my BMWALARM.COM system I installed has it.

or if the aftermarket headunit has a removable face plate...just pull that thing off...i usually pull it off and hide it in the glove box...of course if they break in anyway they will pro bably find it anyway....lbut it woud be a bigger gamble for them if they dont know for certain the face plate is in there somewhere.

sorry about your losses man...that sucks...stupid people=stupid

The car was locked and they did crawl through the window. They actually moved the front seat forward, must have crawled in the back, then opened up the door to get out from the inside. I took some pics, when I get home, I'll post them.

Faceplate was off. Didn't matter to the crook. They didn't even take the little output wire that connects my Toshiba Gigabeat to my Alpine deck, but they still took the unit & the Gigabeat.

I did not have an alarm. Didn't really need one, only because, if a theif is going to take something they really want, they will find a way to get it. I had a 1993 Honda Del Sol about 6 years ago. It had an alarm, lo-jack, and a kill switch. The car was not only stolen, but stolen from my gated apartment at the time. No trace that my car was ever in my parking spot. My car was found 2 weeks later, parted out, it was terrible, felt like I was violated. In AZ, car theft is #1 in the nation I think. So, with that, didn't see any REAL benefit from an alarm.

I had my car towed to the BMW collision place. They are going to fix it, but it might take a few days, maybe even a week. My insurance is paying for everything, USAA is awesome! Although, when I picked up my rental, it was a 2005 Dodge Neon SXT. EWWW. I miss my ti. Hopefully everything will be back to normal by next week.
