Default Air Pump Simulator

I am going to atempt to make a air pump simulator for less then $10 with parts from Radio Shack. I will make a DYI with part numbers and wiring diagrams. I have a good idea of how I will make it start simulation and it should be a easy unit to make. Anyone interested??

Just got back from Radio Shack.....

1 - Component PC board (#276-149 $1.99)

1 - Component Project Enclosure (#270-1802 $2.69)

1 - SPDT * PC relay miniature 12vdc 10V (#275-248 $4.69)

1 – 5V Voltage regulator (#276-1770 $1.59)

1 – Zener Diode 5.1V (#276-0565 $1.39)

1 – Package assorted LED’s (#276-1622 $2.99)

1 - Cermet Potentiometer 1K-ohn 15-turn (#271-0342 $2.69)

So I’m at $20 bucks so far but I purchased a few extra items that I might not need.

I'm going to guess it's something to delete the air pump while fooling the computer into thinking there's one still there

Correct. I like to run my car with no cat or air pump and get no error codes. Simulator cost $200 to purchase, I'm making one for less then $20

Relocated it 1.5 years ago. Never had a code since. Air pump is my only code and I removed it cause I needed the room for the meth system. I finished the unit for $12.45 and I'm testing it tomorrow morning when the car is nice and cold. If it works I already have a DIY written up with pictures ready to post.

I need to do this, because I am using BMP shorty headers, and the m52 didn't come with the pump at all

Today is January 21, 2011. I spoke with John earlier today about the dual simulator. After our conversation I went to my local radio shack and bought all the items mentioned in the post. This year it cost $21.34.

Here are the prices:
270-1802 project box: 2.99

271-0284 100k Micropot: 1.49ea X 2

276-1770 5V Regulator: 1.59

275-0248 SPDT 10A 12V miniature relay: 4.99ea X 2

276-0149 PC Board: 1.99

That is because you bought 2 pots and 2 relays for the dual bank version. BTW super nice soldering job on your board. You should start making these for people. You doing quality work...

I went to my local Radio Shack today to buy the parts to put one of these together and they only had the enclosure and pot's in stock!

If 5liter's are as good as JohnBoy says, I would be very interested in purchasing one from you! Do you think you might be making some to sell? I'd gladly pay a fair price plus shipping
