Leak inside car, front passenger side! Ok, after I went to go get my AC looked at briefly at my mechanics shop my boyfriend noticed a leak on the carpet of the passenger side front seat. It was dripping down from the center console. I dont know if this is from the AC, but it didnt show up till after having the car running for a couple of minutes so the mechanic could see what the car is doing. Has anyone had a leak there before? Could it be from my AC? I am getting a second opinion tomorrow about the car, I have a couple of people saying it might be the AC clutch. I appreciate the help guys, thank you -Niki __________________ my new world | | | 06-16-2006, 04:01 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Tyler, TX Posts: 1,022 | Does it smell like coolant (kind of a sweet smell)? If so then it's probably your heater core. I really don't see how an AC clutch would cause leaking inside the car. They could be right, but it just doesn't make sense to me. | | | 06-16-2006, 04:21 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: Tampa, FL Posts: 677 | Quote: Originally Posted by GDB Does it smell like coolant (kind of a sweet smell)? As far as the liquid, my boyfriend couldnt smell anything at all, he even said something about the heater core so when I take it to this other mechanic I will tell about the leak. But the first time I didnt see the liquid, until my boyfriend got in the car and noticed the floor all wet. So I didnt know if there was another component that went wrong or if its just one bad part. __________________ my new world | | | 06-16-2006, 04:31 AM | #4 | That's not Millpoint Blue Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: BNA Posts: 3,161 | Or maybe "some one... That should drain out of the car onto the ground though. If that were plugged the water would leak onto the passenger's side floor. My jeep does it all the time, never seen it in a bmw though. Did an AC shop do work? I'd suspect they didn't put something back together right if so. check to see if the liquid is clear or not, clear I'd think would be condensation dripping, colored I'd think heater core problems. | | | 06-16-2006, 07:04 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Regensburg, Germany Posts: 584 | I'm gonna guess the heater core. | | | 06-16-2006, 11:33 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | Coolant has a "sweet" smell.
