I use ELF EXCELLIUM LDX 5W40 Full Synthetic and a bmw filter with 6 Qt. ok i changed my oil last night and i had the fogs on for a little hwile cause it was dark and my battery died. i put it on the charger, started up, and drove to my house a few miles away. this morning it was dead again and i just went out to it and when i turn the key all the way to where it should be cranking over, it says "oil service" on the dash. i thought i needed a new battery but this was my first oil change so am i missing something here? i replaced everything and used 5 quarts of 15w 50. | | | | | 05-06-2006, 05:13 PM | #21 | | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 |
the oil service/inspection lights don't go out after you perform the service, you need to use a reset tool or, i believe, you can use a paper clip between two of the pins in the diagnostic port to reset them as well (but i don't remember which ones to jumper). __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles
