I'm the new third owner of a TISport and its been good. Only some minor DIY things have needed to be done. The back shelf didnt sit properly on its catches, so when the boot was opened then closed the shelf would catch on the sorrounding rubber seal of the boot which then tore up the seal over the years. But i fixed the catches and got a new seal and no later problems. But there are some other things which i'll have to address. When i have the headligts on, all the illuminator lights come on fine except for the lights behind the three dials for the fan speed AC hot cold and the different vents. So at night I'm searching blind for these ones. I don't think its a fuse but instead just the globes. I wanted to know if it's difficult to remove the centre console, or just how to get to the globes. Thanks. | | | 12-30-2005, 01:00 AM | #2 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | there are two little flip doors on the left and right of the radio. you then may need a special tool to pull the radio out. believe once that is out, the bulb is accessible. i need to do this myself. depending on how soon you want to do this, i could take some pics when i do it and write up an article. __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts ![](image.php?s=91fe0dfb78a249795b2a53401624cc8e&u=1131&type=sigpic&dateline=1197516154) 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 12-30-2005, 12:31 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: UK Posts: 312 | Quote: Originally Posted by cali-ti you then may need a special tool to pull the radio out. | BMW do make a radio removal tool. part # 82 11 1 466 971 however, a long 2.5mm allen key worked perfectly well when I removed my headunit. | | | 12-30-2005, 01:57 PM | #4 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | Quote: Originally Posted by halek BMW do make a radio removal tool. part # 82 11 1 466 971 however, a long 2.5mm allen key worked perfectly well when I removed my headunit. | just a matter of finding that size, right? 2.5mm seems a little bit of an "oddball." __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts ![](image.php?s=91fe0dfb78a249795b2a53401624cc8e&u=1131&type=sigpic&dateline=1197516154) 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 12-30-2005, 05:12 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: UK Posts: 312 | I read somewhere that a 2.5 fitted, probably would never have had any joy getting it out using trial & error. Fortunately we have an extensive range of tools at work & if they dont have it,I can order one (within reason) & have it there the next day. | | | 12-31-2005, 07:15 AM | #6 | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Posts: 12 | I'm geussing that I'd be right to say that I need a pioneer clip/tool, to get my a/m pioneer stereo out? | | | 01-06-2006, 01:17 AM | #7 | Member Join Date: Sep 2005 Location: West Palm Beach Posts: 46 | I am having the same problem, I removed the radio but did no find the bulbs. Are they on the sides, I could not reach all the way down there or see for that matter because of the shell of the alpine head unit. | | | 01-06-2006, 05:51 PM | #8 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | i believe the bulb is down behind the back of the controls, accessible through the radio hole once the radio is removed. i haven't done it myself, but that's what i was told __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts ![](image.php?s=91fe0dfb78a249795b2a53401624cc8e&u=1131&type=sigpic&dateline=1197516154) 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 01-06-2006, 06:37 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: PA Posts: 822 | I think you have to remove the hand dials and remove the two screws that secure the panel in place to remove the panel to access the bulbs behind it. My bulbs are out as well and I havent had time to remove the panel. | | | ![Reply](http://www.318ti.org/forum/images/buttons/reply.gif) | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | Similar Threads | Thread | Thread Starter | Forum | Replies | Last Post | funny clip | Ji Money | General Chit Chat | 2 | 12-19-2007 11:27 PM | DASC funny noise | krovax | Induction | 2 | 08-30-2007 07:19 PM | Good Funny Joke | HuGo | General Chit Chat | 3 | 03-29-2006 06:16 AM | Funny Ricer story | drkblu318ti | Lounge | 4 | 03-07-2006 02:38 PM | Funny thing | robcarync | General Chit Chat | 12 | 11-18-2005 05:18 PM | |
