Anyone know what skirts these are? Stock, aftermkt etc.. Looking to add a carbon splitter extension to these but the skirts have to be Factory M products to fit. Mine seem to be two piece and most I have seen are one? Thanks for any info!
Up to '95, these cars didn't have skirts. I think this is what you have. If you look closely, you'll find the "skirt" is actually just a part of the exterior sheet metal.
I might be wrong about the year, but I know that the later versions of the E36 had plastic skirts that attached over the metal, and the old ones had nothing. And I'm pretty sure you have the old style.
So if I source a set of M skirts from e36 coupe I should be able to install over my factory lower sheet metal? Are all M factory skirts same length? Thanks again!
All E36 skirts are the same length, so you should be able to install them. I have a '95, and I just installed non-M skirts on it. The OEM skirts are mounted using plastic clips that snap into holes drilled in the sheet metal. Recreating this on a car that doesn't have the holes is kind of tricky - what I wound up doing is putting some plastic shims between the skirt and the body, and fastening everything with Windo-weld. It'll mean a lot of hassle if I ever have to replace a fender, but I can live with that. (The shims were necessary because I didn't have the plastic clips.)
