Trying to get 2 businesses going + house **** has him tied up. Good luck, it's a damn good deal. Someone could be into it for <$3,000 with a manual swap if they shop around. I helped Luis (Yoda) install the turbo. What a car too, lowered, EURO TCU with sport mode button, LSD, solid motor, etc. This car drove like a BMW should since it had a MidNight turbo tune from Barrie. Ran real smooth and the transfer to boost when the turbo spooled was perfect, not like a setup using a RRFPR to cram the fuel through stock injectors. If anyone is interested in turbo installs I'm always willing to share information so you get it installed right and retain A/C and drivability. MidNight tuning has many tunes for turbo 318's so you can have the correct timing advance, run injectors up to 60#, MAF table changed so you can run a M3 3" MAF so your stock OEM MAF doesn't PEG and throw the DME into limp mode, DISA delete, ETC | | | 02-07-2014, 02:20 AM | #28 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: SoCal Posts: 549 | Thanks, John. In reality, I still want Luis' old car, I have a low mileage 5spd swap in line along with other plans for it. If anyone knows where I can track down the car/owner, maybe they'd be willing to sell. __________________ 318Ti Sport (Gone, but thanks for your years of service) | M3 E30 | 190E-16V | M Coupe E36/8 Last edited by AutoM3otives; 02-07-2014 at 02:26 AM. | | | 02-07-2014, 03:22 AM | #29 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2013 Location: Lakeland, FL Posts: 229 | If I recall correctly the new owner popped up on here after buying it. | | | 09-20-2014, 08:05 AM | #30 | Member Join Date: Oct 2013 Location: usa Posts: 39 | AutoM3otives, my girlfriend is the owner of the car. We purchased it from Yoda about a year ago and have put maybe 10k miles on it (if that). It's her daily driver at the moment. I actually just put it up for sale a couple days ago because I'm not able to keep up with the maintenance on this thing, and it's got an issue or two that I'm not going to have the time to tackle if it becomes real detrimental. We love it to death, but I can't perform major work to it if it came down to it because 1) I lack BMW knowledge/experience/tools 2) don't have the time/resources/garage space to do major work on it here at home 3) already have 2 projects of my own. She really wanted a Golf or Jetta before I helped her find this, so we're on the hunt for an MK4 Golf if we can sell this for the right price. Off the top of my head ... just to give you quick detail on what I've done to it while she's owned it: * Within the first week of buying the car I had brought it into a tire shop to get the wheels balanced. This is where I learned that there was tons of horizontal and vertical play (at least 1/8th-1/4th inch of play) in the rear passenger wheel. I had to drop $500+ on a new rear passenger wheel bearing and axle+labor right then and there because I didn't want the GF risk driving on the road like that. I think the axle nut may have been left loose or came loose over time, destroying the wheel bearing and axle. E30 axles had to be used due to the E30 LSD that's in the rear end. * Oil was dripping onto the turbo manifold from the valve cover gasket, and oil was filling up in the #4 spark plug hole. Oil landing on a hot exhaust manifold caused white smoke to appear every once and a while. I replaced the valve cover gasket and spark plug tube seals to fix this. The problem is gone now. No oil leaks from the valve cover gasket, or into any of the spark plug holes. * The brake lights weren't coming on when brake pedal was depressed. This issue was also tied into two other problems we had where the gas gauge and temperature gauge wouldn't work at all or randomly spike up or down. All three issues were fixed by replacing a fuse in the fuse boxe under the hood. The brake lights work, and all gauges in cluster are 100% functional now. * The driver side door handle was broken. I removed the driver side door panel and replaced the door handle with a brand new one from ECS Tuning. * Driver side window switch stopped working. I replaced it with a new one from ECS Tuning. * The passenger side door lock doesn't lock when using the automatic lock/unlock button or keyless remote. It will lock or unlock manually, though. I've got a brand new actuator from ECS Tuning to install, but I haven't had the time do it yet. I plan on replacing this as soon as I get time if we still have the car by then. * When we first got the car I noticed the boost was spiking just over 14 psi under WOT & turbo completely spooled. It felt hella fast, but I didn't want boost creep or spikes to destroy this engine in the case that it spiked too much. I removed the boost controller and changed the boost reference point from the intake manifold directly to the turbo. The new reference point let the car boost a steady 7-8 psi (w.out MBC) under WOT with no boost creeps or spikes. A MBC could be installed again without having to worry about it spiking to undesired levels now, because it has a better reference point for boost. * The fuel pump gave out on my GF one night while she was waiting for me to get off work. The car shut off on her while idling in park. I confirmed it was the fuel pump because there was little to no fuel pressure in the fuel lines underneath the hood (I tested with a fuel gauge at the fuel rail). I replaced the fuel pump with a brand new spare pump Yoda gave us when he sold the car. Johnny says a stock pump is sufficient for an NA2T setup on these cars. I'm thinking of upgrading it to a Walbro 255 or something of that nature if we end up keeping it. 9/28 Edit: Sold it last night .. wish I had extra room to keep it Last edited by showaski; 09-29-2014 at 12:24 AM.
