Posts: 94 | Vibration under heavy acceleration ? ? ? When I take off with a heavy foot there is some vibration for just a moment and it goes away, It can be induced in 2nd gear as well but for a shorter time,, ~ ~ I have a 97 Ti, 5sp, Active, all stock, Otherwise this car runs very smoothly, I went under the car and looked at the rubber drive coupling and it appears to be in like new condition, Ive dealt with these in my Land Rover and I would see cracks when they start to age, This one truly looks like new with no rubber fatigue at all. I have a new one, Should I just replace? And what is that large rubber and steel ring that bolts to the Guibo? The more you push your car without replacing the ujoints, the more often it'll occur until it breaks down for good, and bangs against your exhaust and other components underneath your car. Get it taken care of asap! | | | 04-20-2013, 07:20 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2009 Location: Ft Defiance, AZ Posts: 686 | Quote: Originally Posted by dahamler Driveshaft ujoint. On the off chance its not the driveshaft its most likely the motor mounts, they probably should be due for replacement anyway __________________ 1999 BMW 318ti 2005 MINI Cooper S | | | 04-20-2013, 07:21 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Los Angeles, CA Posts: 1,464 | Quote: Originally Posted by dahamler Driveshaft ujoint. I just swapped the driveshaft w/ center DS bearing on mine and it felt like one or two bearings were gone (in the rear ujoint) but never made a sound. Yet, you can feel how hard it is to move manually. However, i dont rev my car very high.
