Default Dead car

A couple days ago my car just went crazy. I had to constantly press the gas or it would stall out. A few times it died even with me flooring it. I was sitting at the red lights pressing the brake and hitting the gas. I almost got into a couple wrecks, but I got back home, miraculously, and now it will not start. Any ideas before I get it towed to the shop for diagnosis? I think it might be too much work needed to fix it...

Also, I made it to Charlotte from San Francisco after replacing the fuel pump in the Mojave Desert. Ended up costing me just under $1300.00! Tow, hotel, part, labor... The closest BMW dealer was over 4 hours away. After that, no problems until this. I replaced the valve cover gasket, spark plugs, installed a hitch and replaced all ventilation filters and fluids before I left.

I bought a 96 Buick Park Avenue for $800 after my Bimmer died. Now I'm rolling fat!

Last time that happened to me, it turned out to be a big vacuum leak from a crack on the rubber intake boot. Is yours a M42 or M44? If M42, also check the hose for the ICV. Simple checks, may need a hand to keep it running while you check for leaks.

I'll look at the house tomorrow morning, but I can't get it to start to thoroughly check for leaks. The starter goes but doesn't engage anything. I'll check the house and then deal with the rest.
