Almost any speaker you can get to fit, will be better than the oem speaker in the door now. The new speaker can't be too deep, or the door panel won't fit back on the door. Good luck. | | | 09-22-2012, 04:16 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Jax, FL Posts: 541 | my 2 way has the mid in the factory location (kick panel) and high is in the door. Small sub in the hatch. Sounds good enough for me. | | | 09-22-2012, 05:48 PM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2012 Location: New Jersey Posts: 7 | I was thinking bout putting components in the kick panels. Thank you for the help. I'm still new to the ti | Just to let you know that you can fit 6 and a half inch speakers in the kick panels without too much trouble. Use a dremel to make radial cuts out from the speaker opening in the kick panel then us a rubber hammer to gently enlarge the opening. There is plenty of depth in the body panel for the larger speaker. I did this and enjoy the sound of co-axial speakers. | | | 09-24-2012, 09:58 AM | #6 | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2012 Location: New Jersey Posts: 7 | Thanks for the advice on the 6.5. I have a 96 base and my car only has the two speakers in the doors next to the handles. | | | 10-18-2012, 08:58 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Los Angeles, CA Posts: 1,464 | Quote: Originally Posted by Tarallo Do all ti's have speakers in the kick panels? | If it didn't have the radio delete option, yes. The base 6-speaker systems have one speaker in each front kick panel, one in each door, and one on each side of the rear deck. The 10-speaker 'hi-fi' systems have one speaker in each front kick panel, two in each door, and two on each side of the rear deck. Realoem lists a factory subwoofer option for the ti, but I've yet to see/hear of one in real life. | | | 10-19-2012, 01:46 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2010 Location: Wichita Falls, Texas Posts: 1,364 | Any idea of the factory subwoofer is still available from a dealer? | | | 10-19-2012, 02:13 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | Even if it was,,, I doubt it would be worth the $$ BMW would want, on the other hand the powered E46 rear speakers have a sub woofer with them.. That might be a upgrade...
