Hi everybody, first post here. What are you guys doing about a muffler? I'm running a standard OBD2 midpipe (well, it's a Borla catless straightpipe, but dimensionally, it's the same as stock obd2 e36). What do? Is there a stock muffler that will bolt in place, are are you guys all just having a shop just weld one up? | | | 02-16-2012, 07:52 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Fl Posts: 1,353 | Welcome. I cut and weld the mufflers for my 332ti(s). Just buy a E36 M3 setup and take it to an exhaust shop. It should be minimal labor to shorten it a bit. | | | 02-16-2012, 01:44 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2010 Location: Potomac Falls VA DMV Posts: 1,794 | I have the stock OBDII midpipe on my S52 and a B&B Triflow m3 cat back that was shortened and fitted for the Ti __________________ Im guessing im the youngest member on here with a S52 power'ed Ti at 16 years old! | | | 02-16-2012, 02:55 PM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Atlanta, GA Posts: 10 | Quote: Originally Posted by BimmerBum Welcome. I've searched, but didn't find much. Ham, you said m3 muffler - there's no way a stock m3 muffler fits back there, is there? | | | 02-20-2012, 07:44 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2010 Location: Potomac Falls VA DMV Posts: 1,794 | I'm sure you could modify and shorten a stock m3 cat back to fit the ti __________________ Im guessing im the youngest member on here with a S52 power'ed Ti at 16 years old! | | | 02-20-2012, 08:34 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by kendogg Hi everybody, first post here. Lots of options. Cheaper to have a full exhaust made than a bunch of name brand parts to be hacked and welded, etc. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 02-21-2012, 01:39 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: PA Posts: 1,906 | I have an e36 m3 stromung that I cut/hacked/shortened/welded to a fairly stock m3 mid pipe. I don't think any two people have the same. You'll just have to custom one up... Let us know what you decide on. __________________ | | | 03-02-2012, 03:03 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2009 Location: Ct Posts: 151 | Custom piping 2.5" from the headers to the back here with a high flow cat. And a Borla xr-1 race muffler... Not really necessary but it fits and it sounds nice to me... Also no resonator so its a little loud but I don't mind it on my 330ti because it has the power/speed to back it up. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
