Took it on a track day, ran it for the whole day, it got a bit warm and the needle left the middle of the gauge, never did this with the standard pulley. It was fairly cold weather. Ran it on another trackday and it was hot and it felt quite lumpy accelerating, went back to the larger pulley and it was probably pulling just as hard. Conclusion is that the 3.4" would be good on the road where you are only going to use the power for about 30 seconds at a time, but on track where you are out for 20 minutes then the heat gets too much and the timing gets pulled (even with meth injection). Answer is to get it properly mapped with some bigger injectors, but at around £550 to do this I am not too keen! __________________ Supercharged 318Ti | | | 10-17-2011, 02:29 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2010 Location: Potomac Falls VA DMV Posts: 1,794 | You m44? I just ordered my 3.4 and wondering if I should buy a new belt too. Also, are you running stock DASC fuel setup? with the RRFPR? Thanks!~ -Joe | | | 11-16-2011, 01:32 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Leeds, England Posts: 133 | Yeah, stock RRFPR, stock injectors, M44 You can use the same belt as the auto tensioner will take up the excess slack, although it might then start to slip. Best to give it a go and see what happens. __________________ Supercharged 318Ti | | | 11-16-2011, 02:41 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Quote: Originally Posted by JP422 Sorry if I missed this somewhere... but for a 3.4" pulley, can you use the same belt as a stock DASC pulley? No slip, turning the S/C 15,000rpm and 15psi of boost on a stroker Metric motor | | | 11-16-2011, 10:36 PM | #7 | Member Join Date: May 2010 Location: CA Posts: 95 | Thanks guys... sending my ECU to NickG today.. and Pulley arrived last night Johnboy... you always put a big grin on my face.. haha. If only it was easier to tune and build cars in Cali... I'm so fed up with CA's smog laws and such. My other car is a fully built A4 1.8t on standalone and such, but it's SO expensive to keep it registered... if ya know what I mean. That's why this Z3 MUST be smog passable... Might have to sell the Audi too. Well... let's see how she runs (on 91 pump at that)... | | | 01-05-2012, 02:04 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2011 Location: south wales uk Posts: 135 | i also run the 3.4 pulley on mine and although i dont track it i've had no dramas at all with heat etc it probably helps that here i use 99 octane fuel aswell still on the stock map etc at the moment but it will be getting mapped pretty soon! (wish i had the option of taking it off the road and sending my ecu to nick myself but its my daily!) | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
