I just picked up a '98 318ti and while servicing the brakes I noticed it has bilsteins all around. Did these come stock? | | | 06-01-2011, 04:52 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | they came with Sachs shocks | | | 06-01-2011, 04:56 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2010 Location: Wichita Falls, Texas Posts: 1,364 | Nope. The oem shocks for ti's are sachs. Can you tell the model of the shock? If they are black, they're probably the touring model, designed to replace oem's. If yellow you have the HD's or the Sports. If they're yellow you probably won't have to buy another set of shocks for a very long time. | | | 06-02-2011, 01:19 AM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2011 Location: Riverside, Ca Posts: 8 | They are black. Would I be ok to install lowering springs with these until I can get sports? | | | 06-02-2011, 02:54 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2010 Location: Wichita Falls, Texas Posts: 1,364 | I don't think so, but I'm not positive. I know that the Bilstein Sports are designed to be run with lowering springs. That makes me think that stock springs and Sports are not a good combination. Do you live anywhere near the old March Air Force Base? | | | 06-02-2011, 05:16 AM | #6 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2011 Location: Riverside, Ca Posts: 8 | Thanks for all the good info. I live about 15 min west of March AFB. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
