He said he would edit/post them Saturday night. I don't want to bug him too much. Those guys already do too much for me. | | | 05-21-2010, 10:37 PM | #48 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: PA Posts: 283 | My video guy said he's trying to figure out how to flip the image. He took some of the videos sideways or upside down. We'll see. With any luck I'll have it this weekend? Updates on the car though.. It Rips!! I was on my way home from work and was about to encounter a perfect scenario. There was a 911 in front of me, we were about to go up a two lane hill, with no traffic in front of us. I follow and wait for it to split in to two lanes. I attempt to pass, but instead of letting me get along side of him, he blocks me behind him! Dude.. seriously? At least pretend you like to drive your 911? Pansie.. If the weather is good, I'll be turning up the boost and doing some road tuning this week. Maybe next weekend. This car is scary as is.. I can't wait!! | | | 05-22-2010, 01:38 AM | #49 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | awesome man, the Porsche driver was just scared of losing | | | 05-29-2010, 10:46 PM | #50 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: PA Posts: 283 | Got pulled over for the third time in this car. First time I actually got a fine in the car.. Oh well, guess it had to happen some time. I'm learning how to use this Autronic SM2. It's pretty cool. It takes in all the data, then calculates new fuel cell tables and you can accept them. Edit them to your liking, etc. I'm up to about 13psi right now. This car is ridiculously fast. (for me) I have no where to drive it.. Reaches 60 very quickly. I'll have to get a friend of mines VBox thing and get some numbers. Last year at the track, his car recorded a 3.06 second 0-60 MPH. That's just nutty. If I could get one close to 4 seconds I'd be very happy. I'll keep practicing! And sorry for the lack of video. I saw the other friend today. He said some words, but I forget what the reason for not having it to me yet was. Sorry. | | | 06-13-2010, 01:47 PM | #51 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: PA Posts: 283 | Blew my motor up yesterday. We changed the way the Autronic SM2 read Load % by adding throttle possition into the equation. Everything was going beautifully! We were feeling very comfortable with the AFR's. The final pull was 4th gear around 6,000 RPM and 11AFR. All of the sudden the cabin started filling with smoke, and when I looked in the rear view, the same was behind us. Checked out my temps, and they were a little high: Oil was 270ish and Coolant was around 100C. Car felt great at 120mph though! Sucks, in the rush of figuring out what to do, we lost the log!! When I popped the hood, oil was all over the left side of the engine bay. Coolant had leaked out the expansion tank. I'll be interested to see what happened. No compression/almost no compression in cyl 1, 5 and 6, 2 and 3 were around 60, and 4 was 105. 6 was caked with oil. I had to push it in order to get it started again, the started would not start it. I had pulled over on the side of the road to check things out. I can't believe I was able to drive it another 4 miles! Smoke was pouring out the whole time. kind of humorous. Oh well. Hopefully the 4th time is a charm! I'll be building a semi-frankenmotor with forged pistons next time. Hopefully it's ready in time for some fall track rentals! Such a shame, because the car never felt better/stronger. It was pulling HARD to that 120mph. If I had to guess, I was probably putting close to 400hp to the wheels again. We were around 14psi +/- of boost. Be sure to let us know, you could pop a new gasket on there and be on your way! | | | 06-14-2010, 12:58 PM | #55 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: PA Posts: 283 | It could be a head gasket.. I kinda hope it's not just the head gasket, because that would be my third head gasket to go bad. I thought I had this one on there good! Odd that it's opposite ends of the block that are bad. Who knows. I'll be taking it apart some time this week. I'll document it. Probably just going to go with a built motor though. The first time I put a head gasket on, it was probably the pistons that needed to be replaced as well. When I pulled the motor after the second head gasket, every pistons lands were damaged. For piece of mind I'll pull this one apart too. How's your car doing? Making boosts yet?? | | | 06-15-2010, 12:50 AM | #56 | Member Join Date: Nov 2009 Location: Wisconsin Posts: 32 | you've been using a mls head gasket right? | | | 06-15-2010, 01:51 AM | #57 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: PA Posts: 283 | yup yup .120 MLS | | | 06-18-2010, 10:46 PM | #58 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: PA Posts: 283 | Motor is at the machine shop now with forged Wiseco pistons and a torque plate. Start assembly next weekend most likely. There are a few things I want to do before I fire it up. I ordered up a multi use EGT/Wideband sensor to get some more info. (and a nicer display) I'll now know my exhaust gas temps as well as have a cross reference to the Autronic B Analyzer wideband (not that the Autronic sensor is likely to be off.. but doesn't hurt to double check). I'll also go over all the welds in my charge pipe and make sure they are leak free. It's been six days since my motor blew. I'm rushing this, just to see how fast I can do it. Once the motor is back in the car, I'll take it slow on the details. This is my first bottom end build, so I'm excited to see how it all goes together. Couple pics of the process so far: Here is cylinder #6 Probable cause: too much fuel. Ate the side of the piston. Also bent the rod. Hopefully these last a bit longer: | | | 06-24-2010, 04:57 PM | #59 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: PA Posts: 283 | | | | 06-24-2010, 06:47 PM | #60 | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2010 Location: Uk - North west Posts: 24 | truly awesome read! great project makes me want to start one.. maybe not with my ti sport though | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
