Default radiator fan not turning on (overheating extremely)

So basically i have a 96 AT ti.

it has around 110,000 which is good for a 13 year old car.

I put 10K in the car in this past year, due to SEVERAL cali and back to vegas trips and a trip from vegas to salt lake. and back

everythings been fine with the car

except recently.

when i was getting pulled over for speeding, the cop was writing my ticket and what not then outa nowhere my radiator blew up.

got that replaced

and then 3 days ago.

i noticed my car heats up extremly. topping off the temp. guage.

that night i was 30 miles from home so i had to stop and wait 20 mins for it to cool and then drive back home everytime it heated.

and i know why it happened.

my radiator fan never turned on

and i have no idea why because its a brand new one because i just got it replaced.

i have no idea

How long was the temp needle in the red zone before you shut the car off? Very expensive things happen when that needle stays in the red zone. The cooling systems on these cars are a known weak point.

If you had a shop replace the radiator you should call them and let them know that this happened. Don't raise your voice or demand anything crazy, just calmly explain and hopefully they will man up and take care of it.

Try the fan relay if that was not on your "obvious points" list. I will assume the fuse was obvious.

What about the water temp sender? I am not sure if the gage and the DME share the same data stream or not...

There is a thermal fuse in the fan wiring that has caused people some problems. Unfortunately it's not available as a standalone part.

Does the fan turn on with the AC running?

Also, when the temp hits the red it's best to shut the car down, turn it on to position 2 and blast the heat to dump heat from the engine.

no the fan doesnt even turn on with the ac on

does anybody know or does anyone have a checklist.

because my "obvious check list" might not be your guy's check list

so if anyone could really tell me what to check for i will. i mean it has to be something minor right?

since the radiator and the fan are brand new due to it blowing up.

and the fuse is brand new too.
