McAfee HIP and Enterprise AV is what we use at work.. If the Gov't says that's what to use.. it's what I'm going to trust from now on. Also to prevent further damage, FireFox with AdBlockPlus is a good idea.

What is this "virus" of which you speak?? I use Linux, so I'm not familiar with this term. :-D

Seriously though... let me know if you want to try Linux and I'll hook you up. Ask thesk8nmidget.

couldn't get rid of it before my mom got home so she's working on it now, apparently it's some brand new virus that's a PITA to get rid of

I agree Trend Micro's free Housecall is a good tool. Also, check out safety.live.com and opt out of any monthly recharge programs. safety.live.com is a pretty comprehensive scan, including spyware/malware/viruses/vulns.

Good luck

AVG Free and Spybot are all i use now. I used Norton for many years but found that i still had a few problems and it wasnt cheap. You also nead a decent fire wall, zone alarm
is what i use and it is also free. I do not see any point in paying good money for for what was a load of rubbish and it also slowed down my machine.

I believe they hire hackers and virus makers to create new viruses. They want to "stimulate" the antivirus software sales. The thing is that even if you buy an antivirus software you can still get viruses. So what is the point of spending like $50 or more for something that doesn't work right, and in the same time makes your computer to work like crap?

yeah a lot ofr "anti spyware" programs are actually spyware and thats the easier way for people to allow it to infect your computer!

be careful!
