If the Gov't says that's what to use.. it's what I'm going to trust from now on. Also to prevent further damage, FireFox with AdBlockPlus is a good idea. __________________ BMWCCA #403399 2012 Mini Cooper S Clubman, 6-Speed Loaded 2001 325xi, Winter Package, 5-Speed Traded 1998 318ti, Active, Automatic, TOTAL LOSS R.I.P. 10/20/08 Bilstein Sport Shocks/Struts . I use Linux, so I'm not familiar with this term. :-D Seriously though... let me know if you want to try Linux and I'll hook you up. Ask thesk8nmidget. __________________ Real men know how to SEARCH! Also, check out safety.live.com and opt out of any monthly recharge programs. safety.live.com is a pretty comprehensive scan, including spyware/malware/viruses/vulns. I used Norton for many years but found that i still had a few problems and it wasnt cheap. You also nead a decent fire wall, zone alarm is what i use and it is also free. I do not see any point in paying good money for for what was a load of rubbish and it also slowed down my machine. | | | 03-31-2008, 05:17 PM | #24 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | damn viruses! i would put money on the fact that norton (and other like companies) have people making viruses for them so they can keep charging people money __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 03-31-2008, 06:00 PM | #25 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Weymouth, MA Posts: 215 | Quote: Originally Posted by thesk8nmidget damn viruses! i would put money on the fact that norton (and other like companies) have people making viruses for them so they can keep charging people money | I believe they hire hackers and virus makers to create new viruses. They want to "stimulate" the antivirus software sales. The thing is that even if you buy an antivirus software you can still get viruses. So what is the point of spending like $50 or more for something that doesn't work right, and in the same time makes your computer to work like crap? __________________ '96 BMW 318ti Hellrod 5SPD - SOLD '04 BMW X3 2.5L Alpine White PRM PKG Automatic/Steptronic PRM PKG - SOLD '01 BMW M3 6SPD Imola Red Luxury PKG '11 BMW X5 xdrive35d - 3.0L Twin-Turbo Diesel - The Ultimate Oil Burner | | | 03-31-2008, 06:03 PM | #26 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | Quote: Originally Posted by tol4o I believe they hire hackers and virus makers to create new viruses.
