Default Key fob question...

I'm looking to pick up another remote entry key fob on eBay, so here's the question...

If the FCC ID matches the one I currently have but the part number is different, will it still work?

I'm assuming that if the remote looks like mine, is programmable, and the FCC ID matches, it's a go. Is this correct, or do I need to find one that also has the same BMW part no.?

Thanks in advance.

I would advise you to go with the matching BMW part number. I bought a remote that was a subaru remote that was the same brand, looked exactly alike and had the same FCC ID number. I could not get my car to recognize it when I tried to program it. They were not compatible. I have had good luck with replacement BMW remotes with the same part #. Just follow the programming instructions in the owner's manual and it works great.

Thanks, Jared.

I'll skip that one and find one that matches the part number as well.
