Thanks for the kind words! The spoiler was a dealer add-on (it wasn't on the original window sticker), but it's definitely factory part. I love the little ///M logo on it too.

John, the SE-R was definitely a quicker, especially off the line, but the 'ti is definitely better built. I thoroughly enjoyed the 2 years I've owned the SE-R but really missed RWD. The community was also very...."different."

PettitWC, I think you're right because the only worn parts are the steering wheel and driver bolster. The passenger and rear seats look mint. Works for me.

The community is 100 percent better over here. The jury is still out on the quality however. The Sentra was bullet-proof while I owned it. It even had the original clutch after 187k miles and probably 60 autocrosses and five track days. So far, so good with the ti after two years, although I have had window regulator issues as well as minor electrical annoyances (flickering dash lights, etc.).

The 318's handling is exemplary. It's also totally predictable and does exactly what you tell it. There's even plenty of power-on oversteer. Not a bad thing at all considering it only has 138hp and big sticky tires.

Ah, guess I misspoke there. I agree with you, my Sentra was very reliable (except for motor/tranny mounts, which I blew through every year). Mine had the original clutch at 189k, including at least 10 autocrosses while I owned it. It had a lot less gadgets (not even power windows and locks) and was much lower tech, so there's less to go wrong. But by quality I was referring to stuff like body panels, wiring, seat fabric, and even small things like hose clamps. My trunk never lined up correctly from the factory, the car's wiring was so low quality (25 gauge? 30 gauge?) that many connections simply degraded over time, the interior fabrics were very low budget, etc.

It was an economy car and wasn't built to last 25 years, so I understand the budget constraints the Nissan engineers were working with. But it's just nice to be back in a car with higher quality materials, even though it can be more problematic. (How oxymoronic does that sound? )
