Default HELP!! Igniton switch broke

I have a 96 ti and earlier I turned my car off and when I turned the key back I heard apop noise, the key came out just like it should but it was still running and everything was still on. I put the key back in and tried to turn it and it wont. It wont turn at all unless you put crap load of pressure on it but then it just spins freely. Has anyone had this issue? If so what did you have to do to fix it? I can see getting a new tumbler but what all with that involve? PLEASE HELP!!! I need my car back

there's a thread that listed what needed to be done, you're better off just taking it to the dealer though, unless you're very mechanically inclined

same exact thing happen to me..on the back of the ignition there is an red(at least on mine it was red) electical conector that attaches to the ignition remove that and you can turn on and off your car by stickin another key in it pushing down and turning it like a regular ignition..sorry i aint the best at describing things..then go to a dealer ship and order a precoded ignition cylinder,i got lucky and didnt need the igntion housing but idk if you will need it or not
