Default New Clutch Needed

Its about time I put an new clutch in the ti. I can't spend too much but I want something good that will hold the power if I ever decide to upgrade. I was looking into also going with a lightweight flywheel but I dont think that I can afford to pay $600 for one. I was also looking to go with the e34 m5 clutch, I know this will fit the UUC ltw but i dont know if it will fit the stock setup. Any other suggestions are wellcome. Thanks.

Contact UUC and ask them.

I beleive the M5 clutch would fit. Might want to check with someone who really knows.

In my opinion, the lightweight flywheel is only worth the money if you really want to increase your rev speeds for racing off the line (even then its still tough to dish out $600 in any one place at one time). Otherwise it would be wiser to put the money into other mods you've been wanting.

Thanks I'll call UUC and see what they have to say, about the flywheel thats exactly what I was thinking, its too much money for something that i don't know how big of a difference it will make

Well, speaking as someone with both the UUC lightweight flywheel and the M5clutch, it makes a big difference.

What do you say makes the biggest difference the clutch or the lightweight flywheel. I really wanted one but i just can't spend that much on one.

I made a similar analogy before in regard to LSD and Traction Control. A clutch needs replacing when it's bad, a flywheel generally doesn't need replacing. If your clutch is worn out, get a new one. Only get a stronger one if you plan on adding power. The LTW flywheel is a performance issue, it gives you more torque off the line, but it's effect dissipates with each gear. They sell these as a kit because a LTW flywheel has it's drawbacks, but with the right clutch, they work well together. So, if you need a clutch, get a clutch, if you "WANT" a LTW flywheel, get both.

You could just get a single mass flywheel and clutch for the car. Cheaper than LTW, but much lighter than the dual mass.

BMW used single mass flywheels until the late 86 E30 325e, but on all E30 325i and E28, E24, E23, E34 big 6, and E32. So, yes, it should work with A/C.

Look here for more info on that:

Sometimes flywheels will need replacing, particularly if the driver doesn't know how to drive manual. The flywheel can get blistered by heat or torn up by the clutch disk rivets. Single mass flywheels can be machined by any good machine shop but most won't touch a dual mass flywheel. When you take your car to the shop or take it apart for a clutch job, BE PREPARED to pay for a flywheel just in case!
