Hey idk if anyone has had this problem yet.. but for the past year ive had this noise coming from under my drivers side door and i think its coming from the cat converter... has anyone encountered this? if so what is the noise coming from and is it bad? its a really loud rattling noise...

What sort of rattling noise is it? My 'new' 318 makes a ton of noise (from the exhaust system presumably) when accelerating, one mechanic said it was likely a loose baffle

I had the same problem but the dealership told me it was the resonator. I just replaced it and the noise went away.

My cat internals are falling apart. Give it a whack on the lift, and you can clearly hear the rumbling from inside. But, I don't live in CA, don't have an emissions test, and don't have $2000 to replace it right now, so, rumble on!

Same thing here, I think it's the cat converter or maybe the resonator. It sounds like a lawn mower when accelarating Around 3000-4000 rpm

lol i figured this out. sorry for not posting sooner but i put a metal clump around the pipe leading to the engine and it stopped it. The heat shield was what was rattling saved $2,000
