Default Airbag Light Won't Reset

Hello,

I have an inspection for my car on Monday to get it on the road, the car will not pass if the airbag light is still on. I recently went to a BMW specialist who hooked up this little handheld machine and plugged it into the engine bay to reset the airbag light. Unfortunately he said it couldn't be reset (both the passenger and the steering wheel airbags) because there is something wrong, maybe a wiring issue or something.

I've followed the wires from the back seat sensor, under the carpet, seat and into the dash, the wires seem fine and everything is connected. I checked the seat belt thingis and they seem fine too. Does anyone know what might be the problem or do they have a wiring schematic of the airbag wiring so I can go back and see if everything is connected properly.

My light is on too. I had it cheked at the dealer and my passenger seat mat needs to be replaced. The mat acts like a sensor that tells the airbag system if the seat is occupied or not. If the seat is empty the pasenger airbag will not deploy. Seems like this is a relatively common failure, your mechanic should be able to tell what is wrong with the system using his code reader.
