It really wasn't that hard. It did take me 3 weekends since I didn't know what I was doing. I found once I assembled the strut and spring as one piece, it was a snap. No experience with the rears. You can rent a spring compressor for free from many auto parts stores. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 12-27-2011, 08:26 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2010 Location: Potomac Falls VA DMV Posts: 1,794 | The rear springs are super easy. If you have stock springs in the rear, just unbolt the bottom bolt on the shock and it should slide out. I have no experience with that though. I have super short springs in the rear so I can just jack the car up and pull the spring out haha __________________ Im guessing im the youngest member on here with a S52 power'ed Ti at 16 years old! | | | 12-27-2011, 09:24 PM | #5 | Member Join Date: Dec 2011 Location: TBILISI Posts: 70 | i have H&R springs with bilstein B6 as recomended in the front rear springs also H&R but with adjustable koni sport shocks in the front you'll need a spring remover tool rear is simple- unscrew the single bolt on the bottom of the shock pull down the arm and take the spring out ))) 10 minutes needed for both rears | | | 12-27-2011, 09:31 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2010 Location: Potomac Falls VA DMV Posts: 1,794 | Damn... If its your first time tackling them, I would have one on hand to be safe. If you have an impact or a drill, you can zip the compressors on and off in no time. __________________ 11/97 Base 328Ti | | | 12-28-2011, 12:30 AM | #8 | Member Join Date: Oct 2010 Location: jersey Posts: 95 | thanks guys, ill get it done sooner of later this next week or two, try to post pics too. ill post more questions if needed. | | | 12-28-2011, 01:14 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | did mine and another members...piece of cake. i recommend using some NUT-CRACKER spray lube about an hour before you start so it can penetrate the threads. __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 12-28-2011, 05:12 PM | #10 | Member Join Date: Oct 2010 Location: jersey Posts: 95 | okay now heres a question that has puzzled everyone of my buddies. i have 2 sets of wheels, winter and summer. the summer wheels are taller and wider than the smaller winter set. when i lower the car i will need an alignment. when i change the wheels will i need another alignment. or just one.... | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
