Do you feel better about your life now? Look if you came here to argue, I'll cut you off right now. You're 100% right (minus the "crying"). I agree with you! I am learning now the hard way. Everyone else who replied gave genuine suggestions, and have been extremely encouraging and helpful. I'm very appreciative and thankful for those folks, and I'm glad they beat you by many many days to this thread. Your post adds zero value to this thread and should be edited or maybe deleted altogether. | | | 08-08-2015, 10:57 PM | #19 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Jax, FL Posts: 541 | Quote: Originally Posted by Hakentt-MS41.1 OP buys old car, does not do any maintenance, does not invest any money into old cooling system a must on old BMW. Took the bone- stock '95 318i out one afternoon just as a joke, and it didn't mind at all. Smelled a bit funny as all the oil burnt off the exhaust manifold, and the brakes were a bit long for a day or 2 after, but that was it. Oh, and it scraped the door handles up a bit, 'cause it had so much body roll! That said, I'd done the timing guides and the cooling plastic within the previous six months or so... t | | | 08-16-2015, 09:39 PM | #21 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Sacramento, CA Posts: 2,451 | The Sad tale of a 1995 BMW 318Ti "Club Sport ULTRA RARE AND CLEAN" Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org! They said the compression is great, the motor mechanically has no issues. Most important, they took a bore scope to the engine and did not see the same "cracked engine block" that http://www.precisionmotorworks.net/ claimed to see. The good guys at finetuning also said they did not experience the same overheating issue that Precision claimed. I'd like to believe the folks at Precision have better intentions, but it appears they were trying to pull a fast one on me and take my money. I sincerely appreciate the outreach and support from everyone on here. The help and suggestions of 318ti.org members, are the reasons I stuck with it and ended up going to finetuning. For now I am going to keep the car and start modifying suspension, brakes, tires with some track days in mind. I already bought 17inch M3 wheels off another member south of Seattle (Bothell...) who was a great guy (it was cool to meet him and talk ti's for about an hour or so). I'll keep you posted with pics as I progress in my ti experience !! -Marc Last edited by 95ClubSportti; 08-17-2015 at 10:06 PM. | | | 08-18-2015, 12:27 AM | #23 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Sacramento, CA Posts: 2,451 | I forget, has the cooling system been checked/renewed recently? Apologies in advance for my ignorance, what exactly should I do with the , "The coolant fitting on the side of the engine block just behind the oil filter housing. MUST DO"? Is it not there and I should add one? lol sorry again, I truly just do not know this stuff. "Yup, for sure. M42 only has this one coolant pipe. Order the O-ring with it. It will be on my site very soon. I suggest replacing the oil stand gasket and bushing at the same time. It probably needs doing and it makes replacement of the coolant fitting easier. The coolant pipe is there on the side of the block, otherwise your coolant would be spewing from the side of the engine. It's just that one of the weak spots of these engines is cooling systems. If a $5 part breaks and you overheat the engine, it can ruin the whole engine. It is just one of the best things to do as far as preventative maintenance goes... __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion.
