Seems most people using 17" wheels are at 225/40 and I'm concerned about the size, as the tire calculator shows over an inch and half of added size on the diameter vs. my current setup. Found a great deal on some 17x8 style 159's that came off a 2006 3series. Anyone using or have used this wheel/tire size on a stock ride? | | | 05-14-2013, 11:45 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | I run 225-45-17's on my Racing Dynamics with no issues at all. The offset on my wheels are et42. __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 05-14-2013, 10:25 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2012 Location: philadelphia Posts: 217 | 225/45/17 I have ds-1's, (style 22) 17" x 7.5" ET41 on totally stock suspension ( a bit tired probably) with no problems. | | | 05-15-2013, 03:18 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | I'm also running 225/45/17s on mine, lowered on H&R race springs with ET47 offset, no clearance issues at all | | | 05-16-2013, 04:09 AM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2012 Location: St. Louis Posts: 13 | Thanks a lot for the feedback guys. Hey fellas, I picked up a used set of Contours yesterday and had a few issues I'd like some feedback on. The wheels were previously mounted on the sellers M5. I'm pretty sure the offset is lower than recommended for the 3 series. The tires on a pair were completely shot so I bought a pair of 215/45's. the other pair of wheels were shod w nearly new looking 205/40s. I originally had the 40s mounted in the rear and the 45s in front. Upon leaving the shop and attempting to accelerate, the traction light starting flashing and the car would not accelerate at all for a few moments. Power would shortly return but if I hit the gas, again the light would on/power loss. Rinse and repeat... So, I limped back to the tire shop, had the 40s put in front and voila! No more issues. What caused this??? I really want to go with 45s in the front so I need to figure this out before I waste my money. HELP????? | | | 05-23-2013, 04:32 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | sounds like the traction control was getting confused by the mismatched tires, I'm not sure why it would only do it with the 215/45s in the front but having 4 matching tires shouldn't cause any problems with the traction control | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
