Default Next week: Delrin Carrier bushings 20$ shipped

You can eliminate the 25 degrees of carrier rotation (side-to-side movement of the aluminum shifter carrier) with precision CNC'd Delrin Carrier Bushings. These precision machined bushings replace the original flimsy rubber bushing (which degrades over time) at the front of the aluminum carrier.

Round Bushing work with all '86-'04 BMWs except 328, 330, '95+ M3, '95+ M5 and 5-series, Z3, 8-series. Works with budget and aftermarket SSKs.

Very cool. I take it you have numerous sets? I was planning on eventually getting the UUC ones, but this would be a much better deal.

Yeah. I've attempted on three different occaisions to remove that clip. There's write up somewhere on the interweb. Search for "bitch clip" and you should find it eventually. Personally I think the only realistic way to do it is to remove the driveshaft. It's really difficult to get your hands up there and you have to do it all by feel.

I remember reading about the infamous "bitch clip" on the yahoo list (RIP). When I did my tranny swap I replaced this clip with a nut and bolt combination that is incredibly easy to service. I also fabbed up my own bushings for shift linkage mounts because the stock ones are semi-sloppy.

So understand what you are getting yourself into if you decide to replace the bushing. Many 318tiers have spent frustrating hours trying to access this clip.

Take the time to drop the driveshaft.

it does make it easier. but then when you have 7" hands, small spaces aren't the easiest places to go.
