I too would like to see pics of the euro window regulator. And curious what was the shipping cost?

You can get the parts from any US dealer, directbmwparts.com has the lifters for ~$50.

Yes but they have to order them from Germany and you pay for shipping.

FWIW the set for one side is $30 cheaper on direct than pelican, but it doesn't show the shipping costs. I'm going to call direct tomorrow to find out how much shipping would be, I'd be ordering it now if they just told me I figure it can't be more than $30

Any more updates? Been looking at this "upgrade" for years.

I'll be doing mine in two weeks when I'm home for break, and will make sure to take pics and such.

Just so you guys know, if you order from Pelican you better not be in a rush. It took around 6 weeks for the parts to get to me from Europe. I wasn't too upset since it's winter and I don't use the windows anyway, but I figured I should point that out

If you could, make sure to weight everything? I bet the regulators w'motor doesn't weight that much more than the euro w'out. Still I would like to do it for the simplicity.

Doing the conversoin now, you're lucky I came on to print the schematic. I'll weigh everything with the old postal scale I have. Probably won't be too accurate, but better than nothing

Got it done, and I'm VERY happy with the results. Works perfectly, and I can open my window again Bolts right in too. only uses two different holes already in the door, and the hole is already marked in the door panel.
Bigger regulator is the power one.

Now, weight results. My postal scale only went up to 2lbs, couldn't find the bigger one.
Manual regulator: around 2.5lbs, the scale could almost hold it but not quite.
Power Regulator: I'd guess around 3.25lbs, I'll post up a true number if I find the other scale
Power motor: 1.75lbs
Manual handle and pieces: less than 1/8 lb.

So you DO save a couple pounds, figure more if you chop out all the necessary wires out of the car.

it's done pics are posted.

Took a 3.5hr drive today back to class. Only thing I found is if you're tall (I'm 6'2"), and the crank is in the wrong position, you'll hit it with your leg. I typically rest my knee against the door vs putting my foot on the dead pedal when driving. Very easy fix though, just turn it 1/2 a rotation and fixed

Just an update guys, I'm very happy with the manual conversion. I'm building a new TI with the parts from my old one, and it'll be getting converted to manual since the new one, of course, has the bent regulator and **** grease issue. I like working windows, and the manual swap makes that easier

So no more window problems? This was one of the reasons why I sold mine, after "fixing" it 2-3 times, it got old. What was your total cost on it?

While I plan on doing this as part of my next phase of weight reduction, I think the problem can be remedied by thoroughly cleaning the factory grease out and applying some Wurth grease before it binds up to begin with. Stay away from lithium grease!
