Can someone please post pics of a ti with OEM Mtec, sport, clubsport suspension? I need to see the lowering of those springs. Also, some pictures with HR springs (1.4; 1.0 lowering) would be really great! Thanks! regards! __________________ Portuguese 318ti MODS: Staggered M Kontours; Mtec Side Trim with M3 badges; Mtec Steering wheel with Airbag; M3 Modified Shift Lever; M3 Leather Shift Knob, Leather Centre Arm Rest; Euro Clear turn signals; M3 Electric and Heated Side Mirrors; Cat replaced by straight pipe; Mtec Rear Bumper; E36 M3 Front Brakes with EBC Drilled and Slotted Rotors and EBC Red Stuff Pads; Vader Seats. Posts: 3,156 | Sport / club sport ride height is 10 cm lower than stock ti ride height. Springs are slightly stiffer as well, maybe 20%? That may be a high estimate. Sway bars (F&R) are larger (stiffer) as well. | | | 01-18-2006, 03:42 PM | #3 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | i think you likely meant 10mm or 1 cm ... 10cm is quite a bit __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 01-18-2006, 04:01 PM | #4 | Moderator Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Bouncing off the rev limiter in CT! "Normal" E36's only are dropped 11mm in the rear BTW. | | | 01-18-2006, 08:55 PM | #6 | doesn't care about you. Thank you for all the replies. I'm going to go a different route. Mtec compact springs front and rear with E36 M3 front struts + E36 M3 front sway bar and rear m roadster struts. What do you think of this combo? regards! __________________ Portuguese 318ti MODS: Staggered M Kontours; Mtec Side Trim with M3 badges; Mtec Steering wheel with Airbag; M3 Modified Shift Lever; M3 Leather Shift Knob, Leather Centre Arm Rest; Euro Clear turn signals; M3 Electric and Heated Side Mirrors; Cat replaced by straight pipe; Mtec Rear Bumper; E36 M3 Front Brakes with EBC Drilled and Slotted Rotors and EBC Red Stuff Pads; Vader Seats. You may want to add the M coupe rear sway bar for the rear, X-brace and front strut brace in front. M3 caster tops are nice, and I strongly suggest (since you are doing all this work anyway) front strut mount reinforcement plates and rear shock mount reinforcement plates (about $20 for each set). | | | 01-19-2006, 02:18 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: Portugal - Lisboa Posts: 205 | Quote: Originally Posted by J!m The rear are just shocks, not struts, but that sounds fine. This kit includes everything you need! The kit includes the following parts: E46 M3 rear shock mounts, M-Roadster rear shock mount reinforcement plates, rear shock mount gaskets, 3.2L M3 front shock tower reinforcement plates, front strut bearing gaskets, 10 lock nuts, zip ties to reinforce the bumpstops and a tube of Lock-tite Red." Is this what you talk about the reinforcements minus the Xbrace and strut brace? For the caster tops, should I look for a specific year of a M3, or any E36 M3 tops will do? Thanks! regards! __________________ Portuguese 318ti MODS: Staggered M Kontours; Mtec Side Trim with M3 badges; Mtec Steering wheel with Airbag; M3 Modified Shift Lever; M3 Leather Shift Knob, Leather Centre Arm Rest; Euro Clear turn signals; M3 Electric and Heated Side Mirrors; Cat replaced by straight pipe; Mtec Rear Bumper; E36 M3 Front Brakes with EBC Drilled and Slotted Rotors and EBC Red Stuff Pads; Vader Seats. Posts: 3,156 | yes, any year E36 M3 caster tops will do. The hole for the strut is not centered in the three mount bolts. Easy to tell from normal ones. That kit is great with one exception: the rear shock mounts (E46 ones) FAILED within 200 feet of instalation with Bilstein Sport shocks. I had to get a set of 'race' mounts, but have not had any problems since. For stock, that's a great kit! | | | 01-20-2006, 08:25 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: Portugal - Lisboa Posts: 205 | What about M3 LCAs? Posts: 3,156 | OK here's the skinny on US M3 LCA's... 1995 used the offset lower control arm bushings, similar to E30 M3s 1996 and up, the LCA was changed slightly, to eliminate the need for the offset LCAs. What I do is to use the later (1996-up) LCAs with 1995 offset bushings. This moves the front wheel forward about an inch, transfering some of the weight to the rear. Cool mod for anyone doing a swap, but I doubt there would be much benifit for a four cylinder car... | | | 01-20-2006, 11:42 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2004 Location: Tracy, California Posts: 473 | Bav Auto Springs and Bilsteins Bavarian Auto springs with bilsteins sport and 18" wheels. __________________ 1989 E30 325is 5s Coupe Zinnoberrot 1991 E30 325i Auto Coupe Schwartz 1991 E30 325is 5s Coupe Hellrot 1995 318ti E36 Alpine White III DASC (RIP) 1996 328i 4Dr Artic Silver (RIP) 1999 M3 Estoril Blue Metallic RMS Vortech SC 2001 325i E46 Alpine White - Sports Package (SOLD) 2005 E46 M3 Coupe SMG | | | 01-21-2006, 12:00 AM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: Portugal - Lisboa Posts: 205 | MENDI3, that's a nice looking ti!
