Hey guys, so pumped on these depo's. I got them this afternoon. I was only able to get one installed(driver's side) because I ran out of daylight and I knew it was going to be a pain with the CAI. And unfortunately my garage is a park job only type of garage. Gotta finish tomrw. And let me tell you how much of a b**ch it was with my CAI in the way. That thing is outy's very soon. I had to play with it for some time, I ended up just taking out the support plate where the air filter connects in between the ram. What a pain. Anyway, as soon as I finish I'll be sure to post some final product pics for sure. Depo Gen IV, 35w 8000k, Orion V2 AE's. I also picked up some new corners and chrome bulbs for the heck of it. I hope they turn out great. Cheers. __________________ 1998'SportR.I.P. 1995 Sport AlpineIII | | | 02-17-2010, 05:10 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Westfield, IN Posts: 1,335 | congrats on the purchase!! __________________ Greg M42 Club member 186 WTB: HELLROT RED CLUB SPORT 95 ti sold but staying in the family. | | | 02-17-2010, 05:17 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | nice, I really need to pick up a set of those soon | | | 02-17-2010, 05:20 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2009 Location: Long Beach, SoCal Posts: 373 | Thanks Chitaliano.... I've heard alot of neg. feedback with these guys. But they were very friendly and super fast ship. A little pricey but quality is not cheap. __________________ 1998'SportR.I.P. 1995 Sport AlpineIII | | | 02-17-2010, 05:47 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: norcal - 94590 Posts: 3,186 | Quote: Originally Posted by Mr. Crow What up Brenden, yeah I ended up going with Umnitza's version. I have a contact... | Hey thanks James, Hopefully there will be no problems...besides my bloody dinan ram. haha yeah those V2's are gnarly, I originally called up wanting ccfl chromiums. And he sold me on the LED's. At least they'll last for a very long time.... I would recommend buying from Umnitza to anyone in search of buying a proper headlight upgrade. __________________ 1998'SportR.I.P. 1995 Sport AlpineIII | | | 02-17-2010, 10:04 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2009 Location: Long Beach, SoCal Posts: 373 | Hey I have a question for the tech wizards. I would like to wire my AE's to be on by themselves. During the install you must splice the grey wire into the parking lamp wiring harness. Leaving blu/grn & brown wires untouched. If I cut this wire(grey) completely out from the turn signal relay, will it allow my AE's to turn on by themsleves with parking light position on, but still have the blinkers working when I need to actually make a turn? P.S. Ive done my homework with regard to wiring AE to fuse box (grey/purp) or to other sources to accomplish this, but I am trying to avoid all that work. Thanks everyone. __________________ 1998'SportR.I.P. 1995 Sport AlpineIII | | | 02-18-2010, 04:37 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Westfield, IN Posts: 1,335 | i've been wondering the same thing. are you going to have the AEs has day lights? __________________ Greg M42 Club member 186 WTB: HELLROT RED CLUB SPORT 95 ti sold but staying in the family. | | | 02-18-2010, 06:29 AM | #10 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | congrats you'll be seeing better in no time! | | | 02-18-2010, 08:49 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Westfield, IN Posts: 1,335 | you have a cold air intake right? did you have to modify that to get your lights in? __________________ Greg M42 Club member 186 WTB: HELLROT RED CLUB SPORT 95 ti sold but staying in the family. | | | 02-18-2010, 06:48 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2009 Location: Long Beach, SoCal Posts: 373 | Quote: Originally Posted by ChItalian1027 i've been wondering the same thing. are you going to have the AEs has day lights? | Yes, in fact you can splice them into a wire underneath your fuse box so that they are on constantly. But I dont really want to mess with the fuse box. Or the glove box mod. So I was just wondering if you can just cut the hotwire from the turn signal connector. I am assuming that grn/blue makes it blink and everyone knows brown or black is the ground. But if you cut the gry, when you turn the parking lights on it should'nt come on and yet still have the ability to blink. hmmmmm.........I really dont want to just go cutting wires. __________________ 1998'SportR.I.P. 1995 Sport AlpineIII | | | 02-18-2010, 07:02 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2009 Location: Long Beach, SoCal Posts: 373 | Quote: Originally Posted by ChItalian1027 you have a cold air intake right? did you have to modify that to get your lights in? | Oh you have to, there is no way. Umnitza says euro ellipsoids will fit with Dinan CAI. And it does......but it really does require one to employ extreme patience. It is an Extremely tight fit, I almost thought I wasnt going to be able to make it work. I have heard of some poeple just giving up and selling their lights, which scared me. Here is a pic of the drivers side headlight assembly installed. As you can see it is a little out of place, with over a 1/2 hr. adjusting this is the best I could do, it's that tight. __________________ 1998'SportR.I.P. 1995 Sport AlpineIII | | | 02-18-2010, 07:22 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Westfield, IN Posts: 1,335 | oh ok, i was hoping i wouldn't have to but i guess i will. i can live with the drivers light be a little out of place __________________ Greg M42 Club member 186 WTB: HELLROT RED CLUB SPORT 95 ti sold but staying in the family. | | | 02-18-2010, 08:22 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Raleigh/Charlotte, NC Posts: 1,233 | I do'nt understand this whole headlight rage. __________________ -Jeff | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
