Default Fuel Injectors - How dirty is too dirty

After fighting the lower manifold and the infamous squid all afternoon (why would anyone run all the engine cables through the intake, so much for German engineering) in an effort to swap the temp sender, I was able to take a look at my injectors. I never did get the squid all the way off, but I think I can now move my lower manifold enough to do the temp sender plus the plastic coolant.

I have no fuel injector DIY experience, as all previous toy cars were old fashion carb type cars. Are these too dirty to reinstall? I see Rock Auto has GB refurbished ones for $28 ea (Pelican $44) , but new ones are about $100.

See below pictures, I find it odd that #1 and #4 look clean, and #2/3 are pretty dirty.

Any thoughts? Anything I can do to clean these up a bit myself, or I am looking at either replacement or sending them out to pro-cleaning service?

Thanks!

Glenn

ps. On a positive note, I am making some progress fixing previous owner issues, including correctly attaching the front bumper, removing the black rattle can paint on the fog-lights, and fixing the fog-light wiring, swapped in a junkyard sunroof motor which fixed that issue, and swapped in a new fuel filter.

I would clean them or replace...you can find OEM cleaned/"refurbed" ones, all four for like $100 on ebay.

these were mine, which i pulled a few months ago because my car would not start. The injectors were completely clogged and no fuel could get through:

If you replace the injectors, make sure you clean out the whole rail.... I'd also suggest pulling out your fuel pump assembly and replacing that sock filter. You might be surprised at what your tank looks like inside...this was mine:

When my friends cleaned mine up a bit they sprayed them with carb cleaner and compressed air, but i eventually went with just replacing them. Never tried to put the old ones back in. I was in a hurry moving to another state so i didn't have much time to mess around with things

Regularly run a bottle of Techron it will really help keep them clean.

I can close this thread out. I ended up getting a cleaned and matched set from:

Great guy to deal with.
