The only time a computer is needed or needs to be reprogrammed is from different generation automatics and 4spd to 5spd automatic swaps. Otherwise, in a car with a manual transmission, there is no change in software for the DME. You can take any automatic or manual transmission equipped DME and transfer it into another manual transmission chassis without a problem unless you have EWSII equipped which means you need EWSII aligned with that new vehicle, not because of the transmission, but because of EWS. In this case of auto to manual, there is no need for a new DME at all, let alone reprogramming of it. As for the transmission light coming on, you remove the bulb or put a manual engine harness on the car. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 02-14-2009, 02:54 AM | #8 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Quote: Originally Posted by Bluebimma Plain and simple, theyre not different DME's and do not need to be reprogrammed due to a transmission changeover. Hopefully your transmission comes with shift linkage, which id like to think it will. This is the time to get a short shift kit if you want, since everything is out. Dont forget your pilot bearing, but id assume your tech will know this. Transmission brace and mounts. Everything else i didnt cover, im sure your tech will cover for you...hopefully. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 02-14-2009, 04:45 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Louisiana Posts: 1,093 | [QUOTE=Bluebimma;216383] Well, 3.15 doesnt exist for the semi-trialing arm suspension the last time i checked, but you can look for it if you want. *shrugs* he said that but i feel ims go with something diff , what do you suggest? If you ask me, understeer.com has budget kits for under 100$, someone else may tell you to go buy a 3-400$ kit elsewhere. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 02-14-2009, 09:40 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Raleigh/Charlotte, NC Posts: 1,233 | I think I have everything if you want....I bought double the parts for my engine/transmission swap that I am doing first weekend in March I even have an extra tranny __________________ -Jeff | | | 02-15-2009, 07:55 AM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | IIRC 98-2000 Z3 2.8's had 3.15 LSD's, some 97's. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 02-15-2009, 08:35 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Louisiana Posts: 1,093 | pm sent . to xenocide for parts.. i have a junk yard arounm me with a z3 98 - 00 model . should i go check out its diff . how would i know if its a lsd or has them gears ?? __________________ was the 1 an only Bagged Ti on 19's!! | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
