I've been to the quaife website: http://www.quaife.co.uk/products/atbdifferentials.htm They have an LSD for the 318ti. Is it different from the 3.45 OEM? What is the ratio? And price? Adventages? What do you think? You would need to use the large diff. I found the clutch-pack LSD better on wet than the Quaife. The Quaife is better on dry. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti 2003 MINI Cooper S 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 09-18-2006, 07:02 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | Don't forget, you can get some Quaife diffs with different torque transfer rates, The lighter rate will be better for the slick surfaces. They've dropped it off line production, and they demand an order of at least ten pieces to start it again So,for the time being there is no mean to compare Quaife ATB with clutch type differential due to the mother company policy | | | 10-21-2006, 11:24 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Port St. Johns, Florida Posts: 2,242 | well I'm in the search for a good 3.46LS and a M coupe cover. | | | 10-24-2006, 09:17 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Europe Posts: 224 | Quote: Originally Posted by tsilis Unfortunately, you can't buy a quaife on your own anymore... They have TorSen LSD (and not a clutch LSD). On an 318ti I guess this is like swapping a 6-cylinder E30 rear diff to a ti': http://www.318ti.org/notebook/diff_c...ion/index.html I do not know how the ratio is though ... | | | 10-24-2006, 03:44 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Manassas, VA Posts: 4,129 | I posted two auctions that were selling the 3.46LSD, where were you? There a re a few people running 600+whp through FWD and having zero problems out of the diff....lol. Personally, I would say to get a torson style diff, since the design kinda makes me feel better....clutched diffs still won't spin both tires at the same speed(I dn't know if the torson will or not, but in all instances I've heard of, they last longer than clutched style....
