lowering caps?

I like this design over the two piece clamp style. This seems safer to me. Gonna put in those lowering caps ASAP.

Hey L84THSKY did you have a chance to install the lowering caps? I've also been on the trek for the holy grail of city suspension kits. The roads in Boston and New York make it difficult to use most if any lowering springs.

I'm currently using my stock sport m-tech springs with koni sport yellows. They are a little stiffer than the sport sachs shocks, but workable. I've run the koni's with the ground-control coilover kit. Amazing handling, height adjustable and quite comfortable for a 2.5" race spring. However, they were not practical for the city.

I also tried the bavauto springs out with my koni's, but they dropped my car 2" plus - serious coil bind! I guess they are designed to work best with the mono bilstein shocks. The only other kit that seems to have some promise for city use is the Sachs Performance Suspension Kit. I believe that Bavauto sells it for the Ti.

The truth is I'm a bit nervous about attempting to compress springs. That's the reason I bought this safer designed model.

I think not intalling the caps was a good choice. For $100, you could pick up a set of used sport springs. The amount of labor involved to replace the front springs or to put those lowering caps on is the same. You have to basically take the strut hat off, so might as well put a set of nice springs in instead.

After recently having replaced my suspension, the easiest way to accomplish this (not necessarily the chepaest, though), is to save up for lowering springs (pick your favorite brand, but I recommend OE sport springs since you are going from the base suspension and you still drive your car in the winter) and new struts/shocks (I chose Koni, but bilstiens work too). Then, instead of reusing your strut bearing, pick up new ones and just install the springs on the new struts and have them ready to go. Then all you need to do is remove the old set up and add the new set. No compressing and decompressing springs multiple time. Better yet may be the coilover set from Bekkers or BavAuto? They are already built for you.
