Default DDM Mirror Painting

I recently purchased a set of E36 M3 replica mirrors from DDM. I took them to a local paint shop (Spectrum in Irvine, CA) and they refused to paint them since they were concerned about the potential quality of the job. Since the glass seems to be glued, they didn't think they could paint deep enough into the interior of the mirror (behind the glass) without removing the glass. My car is Alpineweiss so the contrast would be significant. Has anyone else dealt with painting these mirrors a high-contrast color?

what if they just masked off the edges so it's a clean line and just leave the inside of the mirror black?

That's a good suggestion and it may be the answer. I am working on identifying another painter and I will for sure discuss this option with them.

I cant believe you took your mirrors to a paint shop, and they told you, "No, we cant do it". Over that? It's like, arent you a paint shop?

I can kind of see how the job would be challenging with the curvature of the mirror and behind the glass.

I just took mine to a guy who paints on the side, I can notice a drip on the under side of the housing. But he did they were a "b!$#h" to paint.

I didnt really pay much, so I didnt worry about it much.

I think cooljess posted a DIY on painting these things. You might as well, your halfway there.

Good luck, and show us the final product!

I am thinking about buying the DDM m3 front bumper and the m3 mirrors... how much did you guys pay to have the mirrors painted (I will have them painted Jet black to match my ti, so I shouldn't have a high contrast prob)
