Hi new guy from the UK , im looking at turning a compact into a track car too take to the Nurbugring next year and wanted some help with my decision off which car I purchase.
I want to pick your brains about which is the best engine for tuning and power out of the 1.6 1.8 and 1.9 and which has a lsd as standard and any other information that you will think can help me with my build

The 1995 Clubsport package came with an LSD standard, however those are very difficult to find. I'm not 100% sure they were offered in Europe either. Also, I'd say the 1.8 (1995-early '96) is easier to tune, performance chips are readily available and cheaper than flashing the ECU.

the sport and clubsport had a standard LSD in 95 and early 96, but it was an option on base and active packages, honestly, none of the engines are that good for making power, you'd be better off doing an engine swap for an I6 engine, which would require upgrading the diff

Hey...

Zippy1 had the optional LSD and it was quick...RIP...

And it's still for sale but you prolly don't want to come to Colorado to get it...

Should I call the guy and offer him $1500? LOL

If you are in the UK why not go for a 323ti? They will be easier to mod for more power than any of the 4 bangers.
