I just notice that the airbag light turned on, 1997 Ti with 160K miles, Why would this light just turn on one day? And is there a way I can clear or reset it? You need a device to clear the fault after repairing it. Be sure no wires are cut under the seat. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti 2003 MINI Cooper S 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 11-26-2013, 11:18 PM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2013 Location: lovingston, va Posts: 4 | hey PRED, i have a '97 Z3 and the air bag light stays on. i bought the SRS code reset tool, but it comes back on. the code says that the driver seat belt switch is the cause. i'm trying to find one w/ four wires in the connector, used but not abused.... | | | 02-23-2014, 03:17 PM | #4 | Member Join Date: Feb 2014 Location: Topton Pa Posts: 35 | If the airbag light is on, will that cause the horn to not work? | | | 02-23-2014, 03:42 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by RobE30 If the airbag light is on, will that cause the horn to not work? | Maybe wires from the steering column are cut? __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti 2003 MINI Cooper S 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 02-23-2014, 04:01 PM | #6 | Member Join Date: Feb 2014 Location: Topton Pa Posts: 35 | I haven't gotten that far with any diagnosing. I'm working on fixing the crash damage now and then will be tending to annoying lights. THe PO wired up a button on the dash for the horn b/c it hasn't worked in a long time. I'm planning on pulling the factory airbag wheel anyway, old airbags make me nervous.... | | | 02-23-2014, 04:16 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by RobE30 I haven't gotten that far with any diagnosing. A scan tool would be helpful. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti 2003 MINI Cooper S 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 02-23-2014, 09:58 PM | #8 | Member Join Date: Feb 2014 Location: Topton Pa Posts: 35 | I'll see if anybody local has a scantool. Right now cars and coffee meets are on hiatus d/t the awesome winter weather. Most of my BMW friends are E30, E28 or E21 guys so I'll have to work a little to find the tool. __________________ 1987 BMW 325is euroized 1997 BMW 318Ti daily driver 2005 Subaru Outback XT 5spd (wife's) | | | 02-24-2014, 09:36 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Globally Posts: 1,162 | 19562 is Pa?
