You'll need full proof of ownership and it will take a week to get the key from germany. Maybe 2 days with express ship. | | | 01-30-2010, 06:55 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2009 Location: TN Posts: 216 | damn the time sucks i kinda was expecting the price. any one else have first hand on this one? | | | 01-30-2010, 07:05 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by burn_2002 get ready for a $100+ dollar key, I think it's still over $60 if you cheap out and get the base non-lit key. My Mini key was $125 back in 2003. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-30-2010, 08:21 PM | #5 | That's not Millpoint Blue Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: BNA Posts: 3,161 | I think I paid closer to $45 for a new key at the Nashville dealer. Call them first. __________________ Real men know how to SEARCH! They have to come from Germany? I stopped by a BMW dealer in Richmond and they told me I could get the plastic key for about $50 IIRC. They didn't say anything about coming from Germany .... but they also didn't say it didn't either. I thought I read somewhere that even a non-BMW dealer could program the key (with some fairly expensive equipment). Anyone know if this is true? Anything unique about cutting the keys? | | | 01-30-2010, 10:24 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | I don't think plastic keys work on the trunk or glovebox lock, it's the "valet" key | | | 01-30-2010, 10:28 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by MacUser Is that right?!?!?! Isn't each code encoded to match the EWS-II? __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-30-2010, 10:38 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2009 Location: VIRGINIA Posts: 324 | Quote: Originally Posted by tiFreak I don't think plastic keys work on the trunk or glovebox lock, it's the "valet" key | Probably. I wouldn't know! The P.O. LOST IT! Don't they come with four keys? I think the lighted one, the unlit one, the valet, and the plastic one ... I have three of the four. Other than the glovebox, what good is the valet key when the rear seats fold down so easily? Unless they're to stop REALLY DUMB valets from getting in your trunk.
