Default 328i Sport struts on 318ti

I am in the process of upgrading the front brakes on a 95 318ti. I have purchased 2 x complete front struts from a 97 328i sport and will pick them up at the weekend. My intention was to use the calipers, carriers and the discs/pads as I have been told the discs/pads are very new. The question I have is: can I fit the whole strut if the shocks etc are in good condition?
Any information would be appreciated.
