Does anyone know what this means? The little dot you can see in the picture above the oil indicator is actually a little clock figure (bad photo). It showed today, when I started my car (E36 compact) and I never sow this symbol until now. It goes off after 4-5 seconds along with the oil indicator. I know about the oil service inspection (it's not the case, as you can see I still got 3 marks) and the "inspection" (1,2,3, etc). BUT WHAT DOES THE LITTLE CLOCK MEANS??? __________________ Luv My Beemer /oOO (|||)(|||) OOo\ | | | 01-28-2007, 04:13 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Have you messed with your cluster? I think that might mean that the mileage has been tampered with. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-28-2007, 04:55 PM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: bucharest-EU Posts: 29 | Quote: Originally Posted by 1996 328ti Have you messed with your cluster? BUT I said that the symbol it's actually a CLOCK figure, not a dot, but you can't see it because the photo is bad. Thank you for your answer...anyone else??? __________________ Luv My Beemer /oOO (|||)(|||) OOo\ | | | 01-28-2007, 07:31 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Now I see what you mean. If you do the cluster test http://www.bmw-m.net/techproc/test.htm Test 4 displays what looks like a clock at 9:00. Test 4: SI elapsed days - no value for US vehicles. Relates to Euro annual inspections. Still not sure what that means though. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-28-2007, 07:34 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Pittsburgh, PA Posts: 1,224 | Quote: Originally Posted by 1996 328ti Now I see what you mean. I was just saying that "Inspection" lites up in that case. I think I will call the dealer tomorrow! __________________ Luv My Beemer /oOO (|||)(|||) OOo\ | | | 01-28-2007, 09:36 PM | #13 | Member Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: Bountiful, UTAH! I don't believe most of us have ever seen it because it might be a Euro only indicator. Brake fluid is something that is due every two years <I think>, so I don't think it's that. I know a tech at BMW North America. I'll ask him. Also I just recently set location to be a required field because we have members all over the world. Edit: Just sent off an email to my friend at BMW NA. I hope he still works there. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-28-2007, 11:48 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Pittsburgh, PA Posts: 1,224 | Quote: Originally Posted by MrAlex Well...I'm not sure that clock figure is for inspection. You're acting as if there is only one possible reason why you'd take the car in for inspection. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | Similar Threads | Thread | Thread Starter | Forum | Replies | Last Post | iPod Hook-Up | robcarync | Knowledge Base | 2 | 01-07-2009 04:41 AM | How I ipoded my 1995 318ti | robcarync | Interior and ICE | 7 | 07-21-2005 11:21 PM | |
