Dunno how ur plates work in the states but here u can easily identify the age of a car by its plates..I wanna get a private plate as iv done on my E46 (its my surname backwards) and seen a few i like but the only thing holding me back is the fact that my car is the last (newest) version..which is kinda stupid but i almost like the fact that people can see that..I know its a real dumb thing but anyone else got any views??? | | | 01-21-2007, 08:48 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: Ireland Posts: 382 | what year is it anyway? i think private plates are stupid and a waste of money... i seen some in the autotrader going for more than a 1000 pounds which is absolutely ridiculous.... over here the reg. look like 99 D 1234 (99 being the year D being the county of registration i.e Dublin and the number is the reg. no.) so everyone can tell what year the car is and where it was bought.... | | | 01-21-2007, 08:52 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: dorchester Posts: 700 | Well i can get my 1st name on a plate substituting just the letter i for a 1...it'll cost £110,000 from dvla..think i'll give one that a miss!! Irish plates are pretty cheap to pick up off the dvla site an if ya lucky enough to find ya initials..trouble is its getting more popular now so the prices are creaping up..My other one was a tad off £400..and iv seen the same plate but the opp way round which is kinda cool... | | | 01-21-2007, 09:10 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Pittsburgh, PA Posts: 1,224 | I believe the 110,000 is approx $200. Keep in mind the usage of a comma versus a decimal point here in the US. | | | 01-21-2007, 09:13 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: Ireland Posts: 382 | Quote: Originally Posted by oakley Damn straight!!
