Default Hi beams How to?

Hi all,

I had no luck in finding a way to download the owner's manual for my newly purchased BMW318Ti from 1995.

So, I don't know how to put on the Highbeam.

I tried everything and no luck.

Can someone please explain me with words how to manage the lights on this model?

Thanks

Push the turn signal stalk forward to turn on, pull back to flash.

Hey Paul,

Thanks a lot. It works!

Now everybody knows I'm a car "dummy" Started driving an owning a car at age 33 cause my parents never drove any car. But, I was already flying an airplane. I had my pilot's license before my car license.

If it makes you feel any better, I've been driving for about 30 years and still consider myself a car dummy.

Each car manufacturer has its own set of idiosyncratic features. Whether something will seem intuitive to you will depend on what brands you've owned in the past. E.g., coming from owning a Honda for 17 years, I find the position of the reverse gear in BMW's (and other German cars too???) to be un-intuitive.

Also, most people have trouble turning off the rear wiper. Push the right stalk once to turn on the rear wiper, push it again to turn it off. The confusing thing is that when you push the stalk to turn the wiper off it does one last wipe... just as if it had been turned on.

Welcome! Hooray for a fellow pilot and 318ti owner! Do you fly commercially or just for fun?

Good choice on purchasing a 318ti, it is a spectacular car and nothing but a joy to own!

Hay roadrash, Thanks for the encouragements!
Rear wiper. I though I had problems with it but now that you mention it, everything is solved! No wonder I was confused... Thanks a lot.

Thanks Micaoct,
Actually I don't fly anymore, too expensive to keep up.

I really like my 318Ti.

You are quite welcome.

I remember when I bought my 1981 Camaro and drove it home for the first time. It was in the rain, from NJ, at night.

I didn't know I could turn the headlight knob to raise the brightness on the gauges (much like the ti) and drove home unable to see the gauges. I also didn't know that the brights were on a foot activated switch. I was tapping my foot on it in rhythm to the music from the tape deck. Who knows how many people I flashed.

Awesome I didn't know you flew! But hey, at least the certificates don't expire, only currency. It does get expensive that's why CFI is good to have, you can always instruct a student or two on the weekends, and you get some more disposable income that you can use to buy friends beer.

You should aim to get a currency flight in every 2-3 years though. You never know when you might need/want to use the privileges, and it is less expensive in the long run, so you don't have to relearn everything.

Gliders look super fun though, bet you have quite a few good stories!

OK, time to derail the thread.
When I was landing the glider my instructor asks me what am I doing with my hand? I want my hand on the throttle. Oh yea, there is no throttle.

I knew the day I sold my David Clarks and intercom would mean I would no longer fly again. I need to find my logbook now.

Before BMW I used to go to Oshkosh. I went for 5 years. Drove, but still went.

A friend of mine was going for his commercial. He would call me the night before and ask I would would fly as safety pilot while he was under the hood. Sure! Now that was fun. Didn't cost be a dime.

I had the same problem with my mazda.

Ah, thanks for the wiper info, that thing has been driving me crazy. I really wish I had an owners manual. I checked ebay and there were some on there for 90+ bucks.
