I have a starting problem with with my ti (M44). It won't start on the first crank unless I do so for a while. On the second crank, it starts just fine. The engine seems to be running just fine, but I don't have anything to compare it to, so I could be wrong. Also, I'm not sure if this could somehow be related, but when I'm sitting with the AC on, my idle revs will occasionally drop for a split second then return to normal. Thanks in advance for any help. __________________ -Kenny | | | 04-05-2006, 03:36 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Melbourne, Fl/Athens, AL Posts: 393 | Anybody? __________________ -Kenny | | | 04-05-2006, 03:49 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Montclair, VA Posts: 338 | i have no clue man __________________ [SIZE="1"]Current: Cooler, Intake, Headers, Valves, MAF, Exhaust, HIDS (white/blue), 17" ASA tuner with low-pros, tint, dvd/audio, I stand strong; Life's a slinky. | | | 04-05-2006, 03:49 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Montclair, VA Posts: 338 | but in regards to the AC, my TI occasionally does that, will drop its revs for a second and come back to normal, and i'm not sure either it never sounds bad, and it never appears to be a problem, so if yours is the same, i would assume it's fine __________________ [SIZE="1"]Current: Cooler, Intake, Headers, Valves, MAF, Exhaust, HIDS (white/blue), 17" ASA tuner with low-pros, tint, dvd/audio, I stand strong; Life's a slinky. | | | 04-05-2006, 04:29 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | The dip in revs is due to the A/C clutch engaging. It adds a load (strain) to the motor, which needs to be compensated. It takes a second for the ECU to catch up. In sum, this is normal. It sounds like the starting problem is a fuel issue. Try giving it a touch of gas, and changing the fuel filter if you haven't in a while. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 10-04-2007, 08:51 PM | #6 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: aUSTRALIA Posts: 1 | I also have the same problem - although it is not consistent. Happens once in a while. | | | 10-08-2007, 03:31 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2004 Location: Florida Posts: 160 | On two BMW's including mine, a weak or wrong sized battery was the problem. Never a problem with a larger battery which has more plates. The weight difference between my Stinger and a proper factory style/sized battery is significant. I live with it. cossieturbo | | | 10-08-2007, 03:34 PM | #8 | That's not Millpoint Blue Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: BNA Posts: 3,161 | It's interesting that this thread got bumped because I've been having the same symptoms for a couple of weeks and was planning to call the mechanic today. Thanks for the reminder. :-) __________________ Real men know how to SEARCH!
